Lauren's house

My best friend recently moved into a house that used to be her grandparents'. As they had lived there so long, the basement, which was her grandfather's workshop, had accumulated quite a bit of clutter. The basement was mostly filled with old tools, jars of nails, and the like, but there were also tons of relics of Mr. Duffy's military days and family milestones. Practically everything was wooden, rusty, and/or had an expiration date from 40 years ago. It felt like a total time warp.
As soon as I walked down the stairs, I was overwhelmed with how gorgeous the light was, sprinted back upstairs, grabbed my cameras, and got snapping. I went over to help her clean out the basement, but I mostly just took pictures. These are scanned negatives from some way expired film, shot on a Rollei XF 35.

  2. Love the pictures, your working well with the rollei! Doesn't seem like you missed your focus at all, and your making good use of that lens :)

  3. Frank, I'll ask the girls about it, although it may be pretty much cleaned out by now.

Thank you for the reminder to photograph the ordinary, because that is where we live our lives.
